About Awoonga Dam

About half an hours drive from Glasdtone, Queensland, Lake Awoonga is a popular fishing and recreation dam on the Boyne River.

Surrounded by Castle Tower National Park, the dam is one of the most picturesqe you will find and make this dam a bird watchers, or bush walkers paradise. If you are into kayaking, then the best way to see it is by doing a "circumnavigation" of the lake. The interior can get pretty choppy when the wind is up, so sticking to the shoreline means you will see more and have a smoother ride.

There is also a houseboat hire from Lake Awoonga Houseboats (they also hire kayaks and paddle boats) and guided fishing charters by Lake Awoonga Guided Fishing Charters.

Fishing

Lake Awoonga is a popular spot to fish for barramundi, bream, perch, mangrove jack, mullet, garfish, cod and red claw crayfish."Harro" has a regular report on what's biting on Lake Awoonga.
